Hi everyone !

My name is Karine, I am a french book sculptor living between France and Luxembourg.

I am reading passionate, I love old books and I need to be creative with my hands, so since 2012 I've found my perfect addiction.

Through miniature and intricate 3D paper scenes, i try to give to second hand books another life and way of expression. For me, it's a way to offer the possibility of pursuing the journey, to excite the dream beyond the end of the story.

I find old books on flea markets where I like to go and I choose the one who inspires me the most.

I read it and only after, I try to represent the story, or an important scene, with its own pages. I don't use any other paper because i want to prove than books are rich by themselves and don't need anything else to reveal their treasures. That's my mission !

Everything is small, detailed (i love to give more realism !) and made by hand (no laser cut or punches). I don't reproduce twice the same sculpture (there is so much to explore!) so each sculpture is a unique art piece.

Each one of them requires between 200 and 400 working hours to be complete.

I don't transform any 1st editions, precious books covers, or church books...

I sometimes add LED lighting to emphasize details, increase realism or poetry.

I sometimes use thin wire to support the structure (in my trees for example), but I try to hide them to preserve the illusion of magic.

You will see that my favorite themes are Andersen's tales, fairy, nature and humans feelings but my tastes constantly evolve.
